In some cases there may be a dispute between the workplace parties regarding the severity or the cause of the injury, or maybe a dispute of functional abilities or duration of restrictions. RMG medical services unit can conduct an independent 3rd party medical review and issue their opinion to those involved. This review examines the claim, injured worker, return to work plan suitability, treatment plan and restrictions. A written report is then issued to all parties involved along with recommendations regarding on-going claims management.
It must be noted that in Ontario, no worker can be forced to attend a 3rd party medical review and the process must be completely voluntary.
